Happy November
Posted by Sober Chick on Wednesday, November 1 2006 at 12:16 pm
On October 31st, 2004, I gave out candy to trick or treaters. I was also in a black out. Actually, each Holiday of that year I was in a black out. YIKES! Last year I was so new into my recovery it was difficult to do things that I use to do drunk. For the time being I avoided situations as such. Last night I gave out candy, and GOT to experience the innocence of Halloween and all the trick-or-treaters. My first customer was Elmo. The cutest that holds in my mind was a little 3 year dressed up as Super Girl. I had lots of fun, and the simplicity of the night’s events was so pleasant.
shAAking the grAtitude:
- Today is November (Holidays, whoooo-hooooo!)
- Waking up this morning remembering last night’s events
- A beautiful eMail from Christine
- eMail conversation with Tab
- Phone call from “M” and to learn she is still fighting in her recovery
- That blogging recovery peep Jessica J has 10 months 2day. Stop by if you have a chance.
- New blogging recovery peeps
- My Mom & brother - that my Mom and I actually have a mother to daughter relationship today
- Mitch and our family of furry 4 legged children that like to wake us up at 2:00 am by pouncing on our bodies
- that my monthly visitor arrived, yup, I am grateful to my ovaries today
- IB Profin
- All of you that support me in my recovery
I found this pic on the Cube’s blog (I hope you don’t mind Cube) and thought it was so appropriate to reflect a gratitude point of not waking up like this after a Holiday event from alcohol consumption. Ok, someone who is trying to recover from BPs should not post this, but I am still GRATEFUL and can have a sense of humor!

Those kids were so sweet for sure! Little teeny hands…..
One little girl walked up in her cat outfit and simply said, “Meow.” Melted my heart right there, she did. The twins that are on my Flickr page — omg, they were so adorable and they wanted to stay for quite awhile with us. So, their mom let them! It was a fun night, but exhausting, too.
I am happy for you that you had a good time. Awesome pics of the catters, too.
Peace,
Scout
P.S. I’m also glad you got a kick out of my comment on your post yesterday! :)

i LOVE the cat pic! Cats are cool. Animals often have a lot more wisdom than their owners. they inhabit a much more ‘present’ mental space. they don’t need to read ‘the power of now’ because they are already doing it! anyway, hope you had a nice spooky haloween!
